Two people, one adventure.
It all started in 2012, at high school swim practice. Erin was a year ahead of Kyle and had already earned her spot in one of the faster lanes. Kyle, meanwhile, was a freshman working his way up through the lanes until he eventually landed in hers. What started as two swimmers sharing a lane quickly became a friendship. They spent practice making each other laugh, and before long, that friendship started to become something a little more. There was plenty of shy flirting, an awkward dance at homecoming, and a lot of sitting suspiciously close to each other on the bus to swim and at swim meets. After two swim seasons they finally went on their first date. Their first date was a trip to the movies to see *Gravity*. They went on many more through highschool, first kiss was at the phoenix zoo lights. After high school, they headed off to college—Kyle to ASU and Erin first to Cal Poly, followed by UW. For the next five years, they learned how to make a relationship work from different states. There were countless Skype calls, flight to visits whenever they could make them happen, and plenty of time spent missing each other. Somewhere along the way, they had already decided that the distance was worth it and that they were going to make it work. Then came 2021, and after years of airports and video calls, they finally got to live in the same place. They moved into their first home together in Tempe and started building a life side by side. That life quickly became filled with adventures. They spent their time exploring Arizona, hiking, road-tripping, trying new foods and drinks, and eventually getting into backpacking. Along the way, they checked off new states, discovered new places, and collected the kind of memories that are much better when you have your favorite person beside you. In 2024, their family grew by one very large, very sweet addition: Bruce. Bruce, a pit bull adopted from the pound, is built like a tank but convinced he's a tiny baby. He loves nothing more than playing, cuddling, and being wherever Erin and Kyle are. He may have joined the family later in the story, but he quickly made himself an important part of it. After twelve years together, Kyle finally proposed. For the proposal, Kyle chose Mount Ord. It was Erin's first time there, and although the valley was hot, the mountain was surprisingly cold and windy. At the top, the two of them had a picnic with Bruce and their friend Alex, who was there to capture the day. Afterward, with the panoramic views stretching out around them, Kyle proposed. Erin wasn't completely surprised—she had a feeling it was coming—but she still said yes. Today, after more than a decade together, Erin and Kyle are still what they've always been at their core: best friends who love making each other laugh. They've grown up together, supported each other through college and long-distance years, explored new places, built a home, adopted a dog, and filled their lives with adventures. Their life together has always felt easy in the best possible way. They have fun together, they get along, and most importantly, they genuinely love making each other happy.
